You know I was just thinking that in our search for meaning to our existence. That the answer is not an end to a means, but an means to and end. That there is no one answer to the puzzle. That the search for meaning is the answer itself.

Life is energy. In order for life to continue, energy must keep moving, ever changing. This is reflected in the changing of the seasons. The cycles of the universe.

Death is stagnation. The lack of motion of energy.

This is why life feeds on life. In order for energy to keep moving it must change form.

Knowing these things to be true. In order for us to grow we must be able to change our perceptions along with the universe. Therefore being open to new possiblities causes us to grow. Where as stagnating our perceptions into, "This is the only way it can be" causes us to decay and die.

So there is no final answer to the question "Why are we here?". The search itself is the answer, because once we stop asking. The energy will stop changing, have no were to go and we will die and not just physically.

Good thinking! Yes, it's not the destination, but the journey that counts. Death is motion, though. It's just another stage in the game. Like the dark moon before the new moon. Decay is part of the pattern, too.

This is why the Tao stresses being flexible, being like the willow or like water. It is adaptable. Nothing stays the same. If you're inflexible you will break when the inevitable change comes.
