On Line Dating - Chapter II
I'm several weeks into my experiment with on-line dating. I have posted my profile on three different web sites. Yahoo Personals, Nerve.com, and Asian Friend Finder. Yahoo Personals is your generic personals web site. It attracts singles from all walks of life and has a huge membership. There are an endless number of profiles one can read through although you can use a filter to limit the population pool by selecting criteria that are important to you (e.g. - age, ethnicity, non-smoker etc.). Nerve.com is an "adult" web magazine (something like Playboy) that also has a personals section. This site tends to attract a more iconoclastic crowd. Here you will find many people who are employed in the arts, education, or non-profit institutions, whose politics are more liberal, and who appear to be more open to casual relationships. Some of the profiles make good reading material. The last web site I posted my profile on is Asian Friend Finder. I confess to having an Asian fetish. I don't know why but Asian girls really turn me on. I naturally assumed I'd have an easier time hooking up with an Asian woman on this site than the other sites. I found this to be true but not for the reasons you are thinking.
As I write this, I find myself getting many more responses than I first imagined but not necessarily what I was looking for. First, I'm learning that many older women find me attractive. By older, I mean my age or older. Of course, I'm looking to date younger women (age 30 - 45). I think I appeal to older women because of my youthful appearance. Some, I should add, liked what I wrote in my profile. I've obviously getting more "hits" by older women because they are searching for someone in my age range where conversely younger women are looking at men in their age range. Ironically, while I'm getting many unwanted contacts from older women, I'm having no luck contacting younger women. So far my missives has met with silence.
The Asian Friend Finder is a different story. I never realized that it is a popular site for Asian women abroad to find potential American suitors. To date, I've had over a dozen contacts from women from China telling me in their broken English how much they loved my profile, that I appear to be a nice person and god fearing family man, and how they'd very much like to start a new life and family with me. Whew! Many of these women are in their thirties and quite attractive. No matter how attractive, I'm not ready to initiate a long distance relationship and be somebody's green card ticket to the U.S. And of course I'm not getting contacted from any local Asian women. What is a poor boy to do?
As I write this, I am having a serious correspondence with three or four women. I have had one "date" but this was with someone I met through MySpace.com. It was someone I started a casual conversation with. After several emails we decided we would meet. We met last Saturday at a street festival in Somerville, MA. I don't know for sure what she thought the "date" might be, and, I'm not entirely sure I knew myself. Generally we had a good time and said goodbye to each other with no definite plans to meet again. I don't think the chemistry was there to pursue her romantically but as a friend maybe.
As for the women I'm corresponding with, I imagine I may meet one or more of them in the near future. Stay tuned.

and thanks for the compliment, I love asian women too!
I do not perform autopsy, that's the medical examiner's job. I do the feature setting and embalming. My body is donated here: The Body Farm, TN. As long as you are not an organ donor, most places will take you!
I love Curb Your Enthusiam. Have you seen Lucky Louie? It's pretty funny, too!
(and Halloween is your bday?)
