I am currently taking a break from the moving & rearranging of all the furniture in my bedroom, coupled with a good cleaning while I'm at it. I've had this weird urge to nest lately, to clean and organize and put things in order. Maybe it's the weather getting colder. Maybe it's PMS. Who knows. regardless, since I've started this cleaning/ moving/ shoving thing, I've found:
-one bra, red, lost six months ago
-one pair of undies, blue striped, missing two months
-$1.53 in change
-four gum wrappers
-one hairball about half the size of one of the cats
-copy of Jane Magazine from Dec 2003
-lost iZone camera
-box of old photos, mostly from high school
-cap to a soda
-paystub from oct 03
-one pair broken flipflops
-lost bottle of rose oil
-strip of six condoms [Trojan, lubricated]
-lost copy of The Screwtape Letters
-7 ponytail holders
-ticketstubs to two movies [Before Sunset & the Dreamers]
I am throwing out:
-all VHS tapes containing Dawson's Creek, Felicity, Buffy, Angel, Gilmore Girls, Charmed because most of them are out on DVD now
-a dead phone & answering machine
-three socks without mates
-some bad Art I made once
-three panes of plexiglass that I am always convinced 'I'll find something to do with'
-one glove, no mate
-14 back issues of Flaunt Magazine
-any unlabeled CDRs
-a cd player that is tempermental and eeeeevil
All that crap is just fucking with my feng shui.
I also sat down and had a little stroll down amnesia lane with a pile of photo albums. I do love my digital camera, but there's something tactile and rewarding about the lost joy of flipping through a photo album. And oy, are some of them embarassing. Wowza. I intend, of course, to post some, because what's more fun than abasing myself on the altar of dignity? I found some great ones, including my 21st birthday, horrible high school dance photos, my senior prom, a party at a theatre in Florida I worked at, and random and assorted whatnots from the annals of my life.
Annals, not anals, thank you... that would be a whole different kind of blog.

With a slow dial-up connection (actually it would have to be twice as fast just to be slow ...), I occasionally find it productive to reduce the ever growing mountain of various and sundry piles of papers of assorted origins while I wait for the next page or picture to load.
Finds include newsarticles (like the review of a show I wanted to see ... long since closed ... Or one about the benefits of broadband ... don't know why I needed to be reminded of that ...), an invitation to a friend's art exhibition (sorry, friend. Hope it was fun ...) and catalogues that I meant to look through (not sure that the NYU School of Continuing Ed's Spring 2004 catalogue is still that useful ...)
In any case, have fun with the cleaning and sorry about the excessive use of parentheses ... and periods ...
I love that silhoutte picture. Very sexy.
