Howdy Ho SG friends!
First off, as always, a big thank you to those kind souls who left supportive comments on my last blog. Your support means more than you know, hugs all round.
It was my birthday last Sunday (the 3rd), and I didn't feel up to a major celebration. I still suffer from social anxiety in noisy, crowded places, so that put paid to any plans for a night out. Instead I went out for a Chinese meal with my wife, mother in law (who lives with us) and a few friends. The food was great and the company even better, it was great to see some of my friends as I don't get out much. I'm kind of in hermit mode these days...
After the meal, we had to get some shopping before going home. My mother in law felt faint, so my wife took her back to the car and left me to carry on with the shopping. By the time I got to the checkout, my wife appeared and told me to leave the shopping as she'd had to take her mum to casualty. It turns out her mum had some kind of seizure, and she looked pretty weak when we were let in to see her. She did come around fairly quickly, though she still looked as white as a sheet. The doctor recommended she had a CAT scan, as he worried it could be something with her brain that caused the seizure.
Luckily nothing untowards showed up on the CAT scan, but they wanted to keep her in hospital overnight to keep her under observation. We took in some nighties and spare clothes and stuff to her in the morning, but we had to go home and come back later to visit her because visiting hours were mid afternoon through early evening (with an hour gap for patients tea in between). She was looking much better when we visited in the afternoon, and we were hoping she'd be able to come home that day. The doctor wanted to keep her in one more night, just to be on the safe side as her test results showed she'd had an epileptic fit (her first one, so she's taken 60 plus years to develop epilepsy).
She was allowed home on Tuesday afternoon, which was good. She's made a good recovery too, although she doesn't relish having to take epilepsy meds on top of all the other meds she has to take daily. She jokes that she'll be rattling because of all the pills!
So that was a traumatic experience for us all, and it made for a birthday I won't forget!
Back to more mundane stuff now, not much else to report I'm afraid. Nothing new on the pain front, it's been pretty bad all week and there's not much I can do about it. At least I have my knitting to help keep me sane and relieve the tedium of unemployed daily life.
My mother in law gave me an Amazon gift voucher for my birthday, and I used it to buy a couple of games. Lollipop Chainsaw arrived the other day (I've been interested in that one for ages, and it's awesome so far!) and Assassin's Creed Brotherhood & Revelations should hopefully arrive tomorrow.
No news on my tablet pc that I sent back to the supplier for repairs. It's been about a month since I posted it and I only heard from them once, when they said they'd received the tablet and sent it on to the technical team. Looks like I'll have to phone them soon to chase them up and see what's happening.
That's all my news for now, so I'll close with the usual appeal for more love for the following lovely ladies in MR:
