Howdy Ho SG friends!
So... The patches the nurse gave me seem to be drawing out the infection and helping the healing process. The scar's not looking angry like it was before, and it's not sore anymore. It's still weeping, so I had to get more patches at the start of this week. It seems to be starting to heal though, so that's a plus. :)
We had a few disasters last weekend, with our car and our oven. There was a slow puncture in one of the tyres, which we only noticed on Saturday. We went to change the tyre, only to discover our car came with some form of puncture repair kit instead of a spare tyre! Basically it was the manufacturer's way of saving money... All the garages here are shut over the weekend, so we couldn't go anywhere last weekend. We got the tyre fixed on Monday, and we bought a spare tyre too, so crisis over...
Our oven (which we've had for 9 years) began tripping the fuse box whenever we tried using the main oven on Saturday. Luckily the top oven and the hob worked fine so we didn't starve over the weekend. It was pointless trying to get someone to fix the oven since it's 9 years old, and any spare parts wouldn't be available anymore. So we went oven shopping on Tuesday, and the new oven is being delivered tomorrow.
All in all it's been an expensive week this week...
I gave up on the lace shawl I was trying to knit, as I couldn't quite get the hang of the pattern. I found an easier lace shawl pattern, and after a week of making major mistakes and having to start all over again umpteen times I decided to take a break from trying to knit lace. It's something I'll come back to when I'm a bit more experienced at knitting, because I'm determined to master lace knitting.
I found a nice pattern for a plain cardigan and found yarn I'd forgotten I had, so I'm using that yarn to make a cardigan for my wife. I was actually laughing to myself the other night, while she was playing the PS3 and I was sat beside her working on a cardigan for her. Talk about a reverse stereotype! :)
I'm reading a great book at the moment: Nothing Lasts Forever by Roderick Thorp. It's a must read for fans of Die Hard, because it's the book Die Hard is based on. Like most books that have been made into films, there are some major differences. I won't spoil anything for anyone who hasn't read it yet (and is interested in reading it), but I can say this without giving away too much. Clearly John McTiernan thought Joe Leland wasn't a butch enough name for the central character, so he changed it to John McClane. I'm currently a third of the way through, and it's a great book so far. I strongly recommend it for Die Hard fans. :)
That's about it for this blog, so I'll finish with a request for more love for the following lovely ladies in MR. They all deserve a ton of love for their sets!
