Hi SG Guys and Gals,
First of all thanks for the comments on the last blog, you guys are the best!
So, what's been happening?... Not a lot, but never mind.
Work's still very quiet, too quiet and the boss is thinking we won't be in business for much longer if things don't pick up. It's looking more and more likely I'll be finding myself down the Job Centre before the year's out...
All because our stupid council let Specsavers open up a permanent shop here.
Our population's not big enough to sustain 3 optician's, and there's no way we can compete with their prices.
I really don't understand the council, they're on about promoting local businesses one minute and the next minute they're letting multi-nationals in, which will threaten local businesses.
The most ironic thing is that the building Specsavers occupy used to belong to a guy who ran a local business that sold cd's, dvd's and videogames. He went bankrupt because he couldn't compete with the prices Tesco were selling cd's, etc. He went bust because of a multi-national, so he sold the building to another multi-national.
I'd probably laugh of the irony of it if my job wasn't being threatened...
Not much other news apart from the weather... We've had snow for the first time in ages!
Not as much as the rest of the UK's been getting, but enough to make the school bus go off the road yesterday morning.
Nobody was hurt as it happened when the bus was on it's way to us. It didn't go completely off the road, but it ended up blocking the road so that nothing could get in or out past it.
I had to go home and phone my boss to let her know I would be late to work.
Someone came along with a tractor and they had to tie that to the back of the bus, so that they could haul it straight so it could resume it's journey.
My Mrs wasn't keen on me going to work on the bus since it had gone off the road a bit, so she drove me to work.
There was a bigger snowfall last night, and I assumed the bus would be running late again, so I arrived at the bus stop a little late, only to see the bus heading out the road.
Hardly any snow and the bus goes off the road, a lot more snow and the bus is running on schedule. Go figure!
Luckily my Mrs was quite happy to drive me to work again this morning.
Not making any assumptions about the bus tomorrow and I'll make sure I'm on time tomorrow morning.
Here's some pics I took of the snow yesterday morning:
