Oh god damnit how do you get a stubborn pool to listen to you?
When we moved into our new house, the above ground pool had a pea soup consistency.
So we tried using Shock and Clarifier.
No effect at all.
We tried more, to no effect.
So we nuked it w/ 5 gallons of liquid chlorine; that worked.
It became less murky and not green, but you still could barely see the bottom. Then 3 days later it was green again due to rain diluting the chlorine. I also noticed that every time I vacuumed, the filter spit green sludge back into the pool.
Then we called the pool guy and had him install a new filter.
We nuked it w/ 5 more gallons, and some clarifier. It got crystal clear for ONE DAY.
Then it rained and it got green again.
Then last night, we nuked it w/ 5 gallons more. And some algecide. And this morning I added clarifier.
AND IT IS STILL FUCKING MURKY. The chlorine level is super high(like 10ppm). And the filter has been running constantly(it's a brand new hayward, and more than powerful enough for the pool).
So what the hell else can I do? My neighbor's pool has been crystal clear through this whole drama.
And yes, I do backwash/rinse the filter regularly.
Arg.
I took a couple pics but they are huge so I can't post them in this entry. Go look in my pics to behold the cloudy glory of my swimming pool! (postings folder)
MINI UPDATE!
I went to the pool store and got the supermegaultrapowerful badass clarifier. I dropped some into the pool... hopefully it'll work by tonight. We're supposed to have a barbecue and swim party tomorrow so it damn well better!

Well, I've lived here over a year and this is the first time anything like this has ever happened. So no I don't think I should be worried but above all I just find it bizarre.
Definitely creepy. I dunno. What can you do? I've actually lived in way worse places.
