I hate being a waiter!!!!!
Today was a decent enough day. It was crazy busy for a lunch shift; almost as busy as a friday night, only it didn't last as long. And I was on top of everything today. I was getting sat nonstop and all my tables kept asking for things, but I got it all out on time. No complaints whatsoever. And I still had time to stay on top of my sidework also.
So... why is it that my highest check left me my lowest tip? This guy and his girlfriend both got 13oz filets, one that came with a 1/2rack of ribs as a combo. Their check was $60 and they left me $3. Everything came out on time, they didn't complain once, and I was as polite to them as they were to me. So at the end of the meal, why the fuck would they leave a 5% tip? That's no mistake, they didn't forget. That was a big "fuck you". Normally a bad tip isn't a big difference but they shorted me about $9 which is significant. On a short shift like today's, that makes all the difference in the world.
That's okay though, they are easily recognizable people. AND they eat there all the time. If I ever see them again, I will get fired. Because the first words out of my mouth will be "You guys owe me some money". Either that or "oops, I didn't mean to spill that entire bowl of searing hot chili in your lap".
