FINALLY home from work. I worked a double from 9am straight through to 10pm. Restaurant life is not easy.
I had a 30 minute lunch break during which I waited 15 minutes for them to cook my sandwhich, then ate it slowly thinking I'd have time to spare during the shift meeting.
BUT my manager came in when I was -almost- done eating, and asked if I would clock in 5 minutes early so this sick waitress could go home. And by the way, could I pick up the party of EIGHT that got sat in her section?! SO I said yes of course, I can stuff down my last 10 french fries and suck down the last half of my ginger ale in 10 seconds flat, wipe off my face and greet a big party without time to relax between shifts. No problem...
Whatever, I needed the money but still. It fucked up my rhythm. I couldn't get my shit together for the rest of the night. Plus, they ran out of everything! All my customers wanted the filet mignon or the prime rib, and I had to tell them no, we don't have any, so you have to buy something cheaper. Damnit.
Made a lot of money anyway but Jesus Tap Dancing Christ that was a stressful day.
Boy am I glad it's over. Now I get to go to sleep and do it again tomorrow. Yay!
