I went to see "War of the Worlds" today and it sucked really bad. The script is completely unbelievable (**Spoiler), aliens burying their ships in the ground under all the major cities before man was even on earth and wait million years to attack. If they waited and studied us so long to do it then why didn't they realize that harmful bacteria existed on earth that could harm them? All their technology and they don't even have a microscope? BULLSHIT!!!!
I wish I could have cared whether the humans died or not but I didn't. Everyone including Tom Cruise' character are all constantly panicing. It may be an alien invasion, but I still wouldn't panic! I fucking hate people who panic!! The people in this movie treat each other like absolute crap and it is actually somehwat gradifying to see the people get killed. Although they did pretty much recreate the way people treat each other in real life, so now you understand why I bought "Destroy All Humans" for PS2.
The last thing is the movie is disgusting. The aliens pick humans up and stick this tube in them sucking out on the insides and the spit the insides out all over the ground in these thick stringy formations of blood and guts. After an alien attack everything is covered in the that crap and it makes it hard to watch.
After that I drove to Nashville. I went to see Beethoven's Ninth. I have always maintained that Beethoven's Ninth is the single most beautiful piece of music ever written. The live symphony didn't disappoint. It never sounded so good as it did hearing it live. The second half of the Ninth is done with a full chorus supporting the orchestra. Seeing the orchestra and the chorus working in harmony was so awesome that I can't find sufficient wording to describe it.

Granted, they could have made the movie a lot more believable, a lot more scary, a lot less panicked...BUT...they were paying homage to Wells' book, and they did a damn fine job of capturing in the movie what he wrote in the book.
