SXSW fucking killed shit. so much fun. met a few of you, and there were a few SG girls in the house for a minute. i think i was drunk for 72 hours.
so not only do i get a dog in a few months, but i get the raddest dog that god farted down on this planet. my friend is going to costa rica with her girl to study butterflies or some shit, and i get her amazing, rad, fun dog. cannot wait.
also, in case i didn't say it before, do yourself a favor and buy the pelican ep "australasia". well, only buy it if you're into good music. if good music isn't really your thing, you should totally stay away.
seriously, after SXSW, my conclusion is this: yes, my day job is in the music industry, but i've always been in bands. but the music industry is composed of tons of people who were never in bands, whose lives are just based on their work and who, I'm convinced, don't even listen to music. they're just normals. and who wants to be friends with a normal person? gross. they see art as a product, not art. well, in our society, everything is more or less a product, but art starts off as something else, right? right. well, listening to a bunch of the bullshit garbage that i hear everyday, maybe some kids really do form bands for the sole purpose of making it big, but as jaded as i may be, my semi-hippie-ish ideas would like to believe that there are at least some people interested in making music for music's sake, and art for art's sake and not everything is a monetary endeavor. and i know that to be true, it's just disheartening when you meet people who are in charge of record labels, some of which i truly enjoy, and they don't really listen to or appreciate music. to them, it's just like workng at a the gap and they don't get excited about it, except for meeting famous people. even on a personal level, they were about as open minded as your standard stop sign, yet they are releasing (in some cases) some pretty out there music. i guess it just struck me as weird that your personal life / outlook / politics can differ so much from your work life/outlook/politics. it would be as if the people who founded suicidegirls were against pornography and tattoos and piercings.
whatever. my rant is over. because like i said, i get a dope dog, my tattoo appointment is coming up, and me and my tattoo artist are finalizing designs for my next piece, which is somewhat giger esque, but in a shape and design that i guarantee, has never ever been done before...when he showed me the drawing, even my jaw dropped and i designed it. the shit is going to be nuts. did i mention how humble i am?
ok, now it's your turn to write something. tell me i'm full of shit, or you love me, or what your favorite color is today.
