Damn. I just got home from the CCR show and it was totally awesome. I totally felt out of my element but had a great fucking time and rocked the hell out. I could have never imagined to go see a show with my Mom. She ever bought me a beer...
CCR played like every tune they have. Not to mention they did these crazy 10 minute plus versions of some of their bigger hits. I think the highlight of their set was definately Have you ever seen the rain? That song has always struck a chord to me. Long as I can see the light was great too.
CCR was great, but I actually think the highlight was the band that opened up for them. It was a band called Rhythm Pigs, and they totally fucking owned. They were total Southern Rock & Roll Blues. They played a few of their own songs but mostly they played covers. About halfway through their set they had the newest member of their band come out and play the rest of the show, fucking Dave Hlubek, the founder of Molly Hatchet. It was totally fucking kick ass.
Rhythm Pigs played Simple Man, and I mean WOW. FUCKING WOW. That has always been one of my favorite songs, easily top 20. There is just something about that song...I never could have expected to have heard that song tonight, and they not only played it, but they owned it. I could have left after they played that song and completely been happy.
Last night was also great. First I played guitar for over two hours. It was totally great. I wrote some serious shit after warming up. New music for two songs. Not to shabby for a few hours of playing. I was totally inspired. I also totally began to contemplate the idea of opening with a cover, if I can ever finish putting my band together. I have always wanted to cover The Call of Ktulu, but to open with it would totally fucking own all. I can just see it now...this is where you add in the dreamy vision effects....me walking out on stage playing the intro as the rest of my gang comes out as the parts call for.....it would rule. A few years ago I totally wrote this awesome version of the song. Certainly shorter, but still has all the awesome parts, plus a little embelishment on some tasty parts. A boy can dream right?
Then I got together with my friends because we were having a get-together for my girls B-day. It was fun. It was great because it was just really good friends. The six of us went out to Denny's around 11. That places food totally makes me sick, but there is something about that place that just makes you have a good time. We had a great time there and then went home and hung around, drank, watched movies/porn, and passed out. The drinking totally sucked because my friend Parker is a fucking idiot. I asked him like 5 times what I needed to get from the ABC store and he kept telling me to get some Vodka for mixed drinks, so I did. I figured screwdrivers, white russians or something, but when we got there to start drinking I noticed he had bought all these Bicardi Mixers. As I looked at him with this really angry, half amazed by stupidity, face he realized that those drinks require rum, not vodka. What a penis face. I knew there was a reason why I took the bottle of jager out of my freezer and brought that too. I made the mixers anyways because everyone was complaining, and for some reason have no clue that there is a HUGE difference in taste between rum and vodka. So since I knew that they were gonna taste horrible anyways, I figured I should just make everyone tipsy and made them with more than twice the amount of alcohol. They tasted sooooo fucking nasty, but they did their job.
I felt total pity for my friend Parker because he has the worst pornos in existence. Wow they were horrible. I like totally have to order him or copy him some good stuff so I can expose him to some real porn. I mean, we were watching it like Mystery Science Theatre 3000 style. It was fucking hilarious. Even shitty porn can create many funny, great, sexy, and or other fun situations.
Good times, Good Friends.
Well, its off to work tomorrow morning.
I hate long ass opening shifts. Oh well...a jobs, a job.
Keep on rockin'
