**this entry made possible by surviving phone lines and the internal battery of my laptop**
Everything is frozen. Intelligent people decided that our power lines should be hung from poles rather than buried. Consequently, the lines are in tatters. Nobody has power and everything is closed. Trees and branches are falling everywhere, the roads are blocked, etc. I am very cold.
They tell us it will freeze again tonight and the rain continues on in a slow drizzle, with no indication that it plans to stop anytime soon. Here, life will be shut down for the next few days.
Last night I wasn't sure what was falling faster, the rain or the trees. The back porch is crushed, a chunk of the roof is gone from the house. Many people's cars have been crushed, thankfully not mine.
Thank God I'm more polar bear than human.
All the same, this shit shouldn't happen in the south.
