you cannot beat waking up with a leg cramp making you kick your own ass. was nice and cozy in my bed, (what i assume to be) dreaming sweet dreams, and then suddenyl jerked from my blissful slumber to have my foot jerked up to my ass. well, for about 5 minutes of rolling around and FINALLY getting it to stop tensing up, i went back to sleep.
great way to wake up, eh?
well lets see.. me and my friend zach had woken up and left late to go to Ozzfest yesterday, so missed a couple of the first bands. we got there right as Throwdown was finishing up, so didnt get to hear anything from them. i had caught up with miss kali and mister crane first thing there also. most of the bands, in my opinion, werent really worth paying all that much attention to. i did, although, get to see Lacuna Coil. first time i had heard more than just one song from them, and theyre actually damn good. and it doesnt hurt the singer is fucking hot as hell i had called miss hexe so she could hear the melody of music from LC, hope she enjoyed it
after that was Otep, and while everyone seems to like them, i wasnt all too impressed. i had seen them before and basically knew what it was all going to be. not that i have anything against them as musicians, just not into their music. to each their own, i suppose. cant really remembermuch of any of the other bands, minus Hatebreed and Slipknot. Hatebreed.. if youve seen em once, youve seen em all the time. Slipknot, i had never seen them before, and they were actually pretty decent live. i had expected it to be just one big cluster fuck, but it was actually orchestrated pretty good. at that point in time, i gave miss kali and mister crane their goodbyes, and parted to hook back up with my friends.
well, finally found some of my other friends and hung out with them. missed Black Label Society, and caught Superjoint Ritual. wasnt too bad, but Anselmo has had better bands in his time. completely did not pay any attention to Dimmu Borgir. for some reason, just didnt rub me the right way with their music so.. totally missed out on them. from then on, i was all ears.
listened to Slayer and was suprised the entire place didnt go nuts. i think this year there were too many older (40+) people there. there werent any pits at all, and what ones there were were like 15 people, consistently. anyways, they played their set and totally rocked the fuck out. after they played Reign in Blood, not more than 10 minutes later, the storm moved in on us. it felt good for the first five minutes, until the wind started to pick up. you cant beat being huddled with about 20 other people right up against the pavilion entrance, tryin to get your way in. and sadly, no one rushed the pavilion.. wimps.
well, Priest came on and had everyone goin nuts for over an hour, a pretty good set if i do say so myself. i found it kinda funny how he didnt acknowledge the fact that everyone was standing in mud and freezing their asses off to see them or Sabbath. ah... Sabbath.. what a fucking PERFECT set. i am very glad i stayed for all the freezing and all of that shit to see them play altogether. was very energetic at that point, majority of the crowd was yellin, pumpin the horns, doin whatever they needed to do to keep up the mood. was way better than just Ozzy by himself, like the past two years i had seen. very good show, i had enjoyed it. i tried callin the miss hexe during War Pigs, but dont know if my phone crapped out, if she hung up on me, or if i just got voicemail.. kinda hard to hear with music going on.
anyways, for only spending 19 bucks (with ticket) it was an awesome show. got to hang out with some friends, got to have a good time, and enjoy myself immensely. i just hope next years lineup is a solid round of heavy hitters, and not some hit and miss bands.
anyways, im going to go rub lotion on my entire upper torso for the fact of sunburn SUCKS.
that is all, have a good one today folks
