Long post ahead, you've been warned
So, I left Logan Airport at 10 AM Thursday morning, and got into the airport in Grand Rapids at about 3PM. My sister was there to pick me up, and the first words out of her mouth were "Guess what?. And without prior knowledge and no way of being able to tell, I replied "You're pregnant.". Damn my intuition, 'cause I was right. My 20 year-old sister is preggers. Knocked-up. With child. SHE'S GOT A BUN IN THE OVEN! So, I may be back out in that neck of the woods in about 7-8 months.
Anyways, she drove me up to Traverse City (TC) later that evening, but wanted to bring a friend with her for company. After some chit-chat, I noticed this friend seemed to be taking quite liking to me. It was confirmed when my sister called later to tell me her friend wouldn't stop talking about me. But, I don't think it was my shaved head or my natural charm, as she had mentioned, but another force at play, which I'll get to. So, I got up to TC, and met up with some friends for drinks. We had a great time, got slightly intoxicated, and called it a night.
I was woken up the next morning by the groom himself and forced to go to breakfast with him, my friend I was styaing with (Groomsman), the bride, and the bride's sister (Maid of Honor), mother and aunt. We finished breakfast, and as we were leaving, the maid of honor turned to introduce herself to me. And one of those moments occured where you meet someone for the first time, and there's an unspoken connection, or, a spark, as some would say. Well, I was pretty stoked after that, and wondered what was causing this sudden interest from the opposite sex. I looked down at my clothing that I had failed to change out of from the day before (In my rush to get to breakfast), and realized it... I was wearing my SG hoodie.
The rehearsal later that night went smoothly, and so did the actual procession the next day. Nothing too exciting to report about the wedding, the bride was gorgeous, and everything went off without a problem, so, onto the reception! It was a bit rough at first, but soon enough things started to flow rather nicely. The bride had set aside songs specifically for dancing with the men of the bridal party, so she and I danced to Rod Stewart's "Have I Told You Lately", while she thanked me profusely for making it out to join them, and informed me of how much she and her now-husband missed me.
At some point, I recognized a girl I used to have a class with in college, but chose not to approach her, since she always was a bitch to me back then. But, as I was dancing out on the floor a slow song started, so she came up and asked me to dance. I accepted, and decided to remind her of our prior relations. And of course, she had no recollection of it, but apologized anyways. We actually ended up talking quite a bit, and dancing quite a few more times. I eventually danced with the Maid of Honor, and got to speak with her quite a bit. She's definitely someone I'd like to converse with more, and it seemed like she felt the same way. Maybe I'll try to make a connection of sorts through her sister
There was a bonfire after the reception as well, but I had another place to be, despite the assurances from my guy friends that I would "get some" from apologetic girl, and that I could hang out with the Maid of Honor a bit more. So, I gave up those opportunities to hang out with some of my guy friends, eat pizza, and play video games But, I did get to experience one of the greatest confections ever created. I introduce you to the Japanese candy, Hi-CHEW:
They have quite an interesting texture... It's like a mix between chewing gum and taffy. I'm down to my last two pieces, and trying to find a way to get more. I may have a new addiction on my hands here.
Anyways, I got to see some pictures from the previous wedding and noticed that there are actually good pictures of me out there. I may be able to get some of them over here at some point. I eventually made it back to my mother's house, and got to see my brother, even though the bastard sat in front of his computer the whole time I was there.
So, I'm back, and I have this idea of going through my friend's list and leaving some testemonials, so don't be surprised if you see one from me soon. Ciao!
