Hey, kids! It's the first update in '08 from Your Friendly Neighborhood Freak.
I hope you all had a Happy (and safe) New Year. Mine was spent enjoying the company of friends in Raynham. I would've taken pics, but I ended up being a weensy too drunk to remember. More on that later.
That's right. My Xmas tree has been monkeyfied. And yes, it is still up. Mostly because I never put it up the year before, so I wanted to make sure I had some Xmas cheer around the humble commode.
I figured I'd also post it as I realized that I never shared how my holiday was. Here we go...
Xmas eve, I get a call from my Nana while I'm on break smoking a cig. Her, my grandpa, my aunt, and my uncle all came down w/stomach bugs, so she called to tell me Xmas is canceled until the following Saturday. Naturally, something like this makes me quite depressed. Work wasn't a cakewalk that day either. So, coming home, feeling aforementioned depression, I decide to straighten out the living room and get the tree and lights up, as well as start wrapping gifts in newspaper, as I do.
As I'm puttering aboot, I talk to my buddy Chris, and find out that he has nothing to do either, so we decide we're going to salvage Xmas the best we can. The next day, after I come home from seeing my dad and stepmom, exchanging gifts over a cup of coffee, Chris swings by to pick me up. We then drive to the theater and buy our tickets for Alien vs. Predator: Requiem (I never saw the first, but I quite enjoyed this film). Now, by this time, we're hungry. But, being Xmas day, we start to get annoyed as we find everything to be closed, except for the one savior of the hungry traveler...
...Denny's.
After sitting down to a yummy French Toast Slam (no eggs, I find them vile), we then go to see the movie. When we got out, we then drive one town over to a different theater and meet up w/our homeslice Justin, and proceed to see Sweeney Todd (which was also a good movie). Then, Chris and I went back to his place to play some Rock Band as Justin stayed behind to see I Am Legend. Justin later came back, more rocking was had, then he and I left for our trip back home. En route, Justin mentions he is very hungry, and asks if I am as such. I say yes, so we then decide to take a ride to...
...that's right, Denny's.
I finally made it back home around 2:30 in the morning. My Xmas became one of gory movies, strumming a pretend guitar, and 2 French Toast Slams. I would say my holiday turned out much better than sitting @home alone.
And, BTW, I did still see the rest of the family that Saturday, and got my fill of food there (as well as a $50 Visa gift card), so that made me happy as well.
New Years Eve was also, funny enough, spent playing Rock Band, as well as that drunkenness I mentioned earlier. Here's the deal...Justin and I arrived in Raynham around 10:30 that night. Besides various snacking here and there, I hadn't had a proper meal since 6:30 that morning before work. Having said that, in 2 hours time I had 2 beers...and 3 tequila shooters. While I'm no drunkard, I quickly realized I was more of a lightweight than I thought when one of the New Year congratulatory hugs was going to my new best friend Mr. Toilet.
Let's just say, the next morning, Wal-Mart brand Excedrin, a strong cup of tea, and a hearty breakfast made me feel good as new.
So, since I have aired my inebriated embarassment for all you kids to see, feel free to share any amusing stories you may have while you were ringing in '08.
That's all for now, kids. As always, I hope you are all well.
Stay tuned...
