Okay, so... since I have some time, I thought I'd offer a real update.
As you already know from my hastily thrown-together postings, LittleFierceOne and I have found a house for rent in Chapel Hill and will be moving. Hooray! For those of you who are not aware, in May of 2006 I moved in with Alan and his two cats, into a 540-square-foot apartment. At the time I had two cats (that a former roommate took) and The Best Dog Ever, Nanuke (pictured in the previous post). Unfortunately, there was no way Nukie was going to fit into this apartment, and they don't allow dogs, so we drove him out to my parents in New Mexico.
Since the day I left him there, his pink wiggly nose curiously and anxiously pressed against the door, my goal has been to get him back. Going back to school, graduating, getting a job, and finding a house with a yard - it's all been for him. Sure, there are other benefits, but he has been my driving force.
And now, after two looooooong years without him, we will be reunited in August. I think the only thing remotely as thrilling was when LittleFierceOne proposed to me in January.
So, the details! The house is a small, 2 bedroom (900-square-feet) with a HUGE fenced in yard (2,000-square-feet). It's cute, yellow, and we start moving in as soon as we get the utilities switched into our names. I plan to have a moving party - we provide food if you come help us move our crap - sometime in July for those that are willing. (Please?) A proper housewarming party will have to happen, later, of course!
That's the biggest news I've got, lately. Summer work at the planetarium is going well... job hunt isn't progressing, but that will change... cats are all well... and my parents are (no doubt) mourning the upcoming loss of the Best Dog Ever.
Things have been tough around here, lately - he's stressed about school, I'm stressed about him stressing, money is tight (temporarily), and deadlines are rapidly approaching. Finding this house has really helped give me a boost of energy and positive vibes.
Last night we went to LittleFierceOne's best friend's wedding in Virginia. It was very... wedding-like. It was nice, though I found myself bored and uninterested in doing much of anything. Weddings are stupid. It revitalized my desire to tell my stepmom to let me have my wedding my way - so it doesn't turn into that circus. Also, it made me miss my mom. A lot. (But that is another post...)
Hope you are all well... I'm going to try to be productive, today, and start getting stuff we don't need/want onto Craigslist to be sold. We're going clutter-free!!
