My impressions of Apple's new "i" suites:
iLife '08:
iMovie... suck. All I wanna do is add chapter markers so when I send it to iDVD the movie will actually have a scene selection that I choose. Online help (which hasn't been updated for iMovie yet) says the only way to get chapters is to use Final Cut Pro. Funny, I thought all apps in the iLife suite were supposed to work seamlessly together. It's one thing if it never did it but it did and now it's gone. It is a bad sign when Apple offers the '06 version of iMovie HD as a free download for people who have bought iLife '08
iDVD... same ol' same ol' which isn't a complaint after iMovie. New themes and a few new features. I'm turning all those downloaded porn clips into bonafide DVDs!
iWeb... haven't had much chance to work with being I'm been bitching and tricking iMovie to work for me but the video features, the web galleries and theme changing on the fly has great promise.
iPhoto... more robust with more editing features
GarageBand... I've been trying to learn the guitar and the piano/keyboard and I have the strong feeling GarageBand will be part of it. I've got a JamPack or two of different loops and Apple has given samplers of even more. The new Audition feature is neat for building an accompaniment with which to play with.
.Mac... better compatability with iLife, web galleries beefed up not to mention more storage space (from 1GB to 10!) I host three websites off of there so more storage is good
iWork:
Pages... word processor. Haven't had a chance to use since I've been raging about the atrocity that is iMovie '08
Keynote... I've always sworn I'd learn to do presentations but haven't had the reason to. Haven't spent much time with... maybe out do a Keynote of why iMovie HD '06 is superior to iMovie '08... or just use porn as I do for everything else.
Numbers... Apple has a spreadsheet app now!! I haven't even booted it up yet but I'm dying to relearn how to do spreadsheets. I haven't done such since being a senior in high school... that was a long time ago.
The whole experience is dampened by iMovie which I've been using to turn old VHS tapes and movies on my harddrive into DVDs. I've been doing such using three versions of iMovie and iDVD (on three different Macs) and had hoped to get iLife '08 to have them all run the same versions (even did the legal thing and bought the family pack with five licenses). The G4 couldn't even run iMovie but with the free download of '06 now every Mac is running the same and iMovie '06 works just fine with the rest of iLife '08. I can understand what Apple tried to do with iMovie but it ruined all the great features the app already had. What more, the guy at the Apple store reassured me all I had been using it for was still possible.
I hate being lied to.

Belated happy birthday! I never know when my friends' birthdays are, anymore, since SG changed the web page design. What can I say? The SG layout is yet another instance of something that's not as good as it used to be.
