I never liked vampires. I've studied them and I've written about them but I don't like vampires. I like them better than werewolves but that just goes to show how much I don't like werewolves.
I had a friend who entertained the fantasy of a vampire lover. I just don't understand it. You see, I've always been on the side of the hunter. Van Helsing, Van Richten, James Woods, Buffy, they were always the ones that interested me. They risked their lives, many of them without the special inherent skills to face such deadly foes (I don't like vampires, that doesn't mean I'm foolish enough to underestimate them). They did so with only the thought of avenging a loved one or ridding this world of the evil that is part human, part demon. Vampires are romantic creatures but I don't see their allure. Okay, Monica Belluci and Anulka and Natasha Gregson Wagner (see Modern Vampires, the only movie where I halfway liked vampires... it has Craig Furgeson for vamp's sakes!!) are lovelies that don fangs but I would still prefer my women living. Vampires are sympathetic characters? Maybe. So much moreso they should be given their last rites, staked, and laid to permanent rest. They flaunt their powers while those who hunt them give up everything to stop the undead. Afterall, would you rub up against a zombie? Of course not (if you say different you're lying, you sick bastards! ). Vampires aren't any different, just in a better stage of decomposition.
My heart goes out to you, Slayer and men of science! May your Faith be true and your aim sure.
