Is it St. Patrick's yet?
Oh wait, I don't need an excuse to drink. Too bad I only have cheap whiskey (well, and tequila and vodka but I'm feeling rather Irish right now). This weekend I should treat myself to Jameson's and maybe some Guinness. I can't pour a perfect one but I can drink one pretty good
I'm getting ready... Greensleeves, Whiskey in the Jar... just have to pass the Ides of March (thank Christ my name isn't Caeser).
Anyways, times are rough for the ol' TheFly, unexpected expenses, overcharges and still the unemployment. A couple days of drunkeness would be lovely. I'm just too uptight, I kill my own buzz (ha, get it? Buzz? TheFly?). I have a friend who can kill his own buzz to act sober when the situation calls for it. He uses it if he's out drinking and is pulled over by a cop. It usually works,,, except for that time he was pulled over, arrested, his car impounded. He had enough cash to bail himself out. His girlfriend, however, got to spend a few more hours in jail. Because he couldn't reach me he had to go out onto the streets and beg for money to get her out. Most humbling I'm sure. When he is out and has to make himself sober to avoid jail he Forces Himself. That's what we call it. Y'see, this was a term Harrison Ford coined back in the '70s. When everyone was running around saying "May the Force be with you," and Harry being the killjoy he was/is, he would respond "Force yourself." Anyone who's been drunk and tried to act sober knows how hard it is to do such. Hence was born the sobering "Force Yourself" for my friend and myself.
That's why I don't drink outside my house. I'm just glad to have the comfort when I'm here. Too bad I come from a long line of drunks. And one alcoholic. And pill poppers. Jesus, my family's fucked up!
