I've had a lot of trouble with this blog homework but I yesterday was shitty and I'm hoping that writing about happy days will help. The first day that comes to mind in this assignment that @missy, @rambo, and @lyxzen assigned is the day my mom brought Franklin home. I came downstairs and there was this adorable little puppy wagging his tail and so happy to see me. I haven't had a dog in like 4 years. He's such a friendly guy. I like to talk to him. He loves kids. He loves people. I call him "Da Franklin." He's very smart. I love him a whole lot. My neighbors all know and love him. It's great to see their eyes light up when they see him. He gets so excited. His fur is so soft. I could go on but I'll stop myself.
This reminds me of another best day of my life. When I was three my mom got into a fight with my dad about her spending too much money. So she went to a pet store to piss him off more. She saw a beagle she wanted and they were letting out another dog to feed her and she leaped into my mother's arms. My mother took her home and we named her Rascal. She was a wonderful dog and very protective of us. She didn't really like strangers but she loved my best friend. She would curl up beside him. She used to growl when being pet and we used say she was purring. She slept in my bed. She died after my first semester in college. I miss her so much. And my dad was not pissed that my mom bought a dog. He thought it was a great idea. Which made my mom a little mad.
Another best day was when I got into college. I applied to Simon's Rock three times. Once for their scholarship program, once regular, and finally to the January semester. The third time was the charm. I remember watching TV and my mom came in and turned it off. This was not a good sign. She did that to deliver bad news. So my mind was thinking Nana was dead or dad has cancer. What if she has cancer? She said, "I'm not supposed to tell you this but you know I can't keep a secret. You got into Simon's Rock." I ran around the house screaming in joy. And then noticed I was wearing a shirt my sister got me with the name of the school on it, she's an alumna too. On the way down I was paranoid that a mistake had been made. I was going to be sent home and have to go back to high school (the average age of a freshman at the Rock is 15). I didn't sleep well that night but when we got there I was greeted warmly. My room mate was an awesome guy. I had a blast.
The day I got my degrees was a good one too. I needed one credit to get my AA and BA. I never managed to complete a math or a science when I was a full time student. There were many reasons why but most were a case of the "idonwannas." I got the math out of the way pretty soon after leaving and sent the credit to my alma mater. There was a snafu with my science class leading my to have to take another one. Last year I did it. Not only did I do it but I mistook Bio 100 as the easy course. Turns out at the school that taught this course it used to weed people out of the Bio program. My degree is in Creative Writing and Theater so I'm proud of myself.
Thanks to @missy, @rambo, and @lyxzen for assigning this blog homework. It really made me feel better. That and Franklin licking my face.
