Thanks for all the nice comments yesterday! Sex is a very good thing. I forgot to send the rent in today but otherwise it was pretty rad still basking in the afterglow of the hot sweaty Sunday, while wondering if I should call her again sooner rather than later. She did say she doesnt want a boyfriend and Im down with that I wouldnt mind some MORE. Another bowl of porridge, please? OK Ill chill the fuck out.
Another day at work spent swimming in the words on the computer screen and working and emailing friends and surfing on the Internet (though I cant look at SG this stupid red hand pops up on the screen! 123, awwwwww) while listening to the new Bonnie Prince Billy (Palace/ Will Oldham) record over and over again on headphones. Yeah, I dont love my job but its not half bad either! Especially considering the economy in Seattle esp. for web/ music kindsa gigs, holy Christ.
Speaking of Christ, I have to come out of the closet here as a totally fucking rabid gospel fan. Gospel?
Yeah. It took me awhile to get past the lyrical content (Im not a Christian and had my own baggage regarding organized religion) but once I did, I just fucking totally fell in love with this music (mostly black gospel from the 40s through the early 70s.) Not only was it the soundtrack to the civil rights movement but its just the most pure, intense music way more intense and honest than 99% of punk rock, industrial noise, whathaveyou.
Right now I am listening to some old sanctified blues records from the 20s (not *technically* gospel but whatever) reissued on CD by the German label Document; its the coolest label, all they do is reissue old blues and hillbilly music and jazz and etc. Im marveling at the way the surface noise takes over in some places, like some fucked-up laptop remix of a 78 -- only the old 78 surface noise sounds more like a storm or what an insect sounds like when the volumes turned up real loud.

The radio show is It Came from the Garage. It's a sort of exploration of primitive rock and roll, hillbilly, psychobilly, surf music, and all thinks garage rock and/or punk.
Whee!
Y & T is still around. It's on Bird Road, and that's really kind of far away from my house. So I don't go there a lot, unless I'm heading over to A & M Comics by Miami Twice. I get a 15% discount because I'm a frequent customer and dork.
Most of the time I buy stuff from either Amazon, In Sound, or Virgin Megastore. I know that's not very cool (except In Sound, because that's neat), but... Virgin has stuff super cheap, right? $10 for some really nice CDs? I don't have much disposable income, you know. Also, it's right by UM.
I'm just being a huge dork right now.
Also, as for the Gospel fan stuff? I have "I Saw the Light" by Hank Williams stuck in my head, and that's not gospel, but it's a damn catchy tune about Jesus.
