Managed to avert "dark night of the soul" type wallowing woe-is-me bullshit this past week even though I had enough reason to fall into it -- I did skip my AA home group meeting tonight because the girl I broke up with chairs it and it just didn't feel right, to see her just yet.
So I went by and hung out with friends who work at: 1- the cool little bookshop, 2- the pretty cool record store and 3- the world's best coffee place, all within a block of one another. Coffee was free, books were half off, and the CDs 20-30% off -- I LOVE the whole friend discount thing, don't you? It sounds shallow I guess but it makes me feel cooler than anything, like I am truly special, like I have the world on a string. I got a John Gardner book and Irish humorist Flann O'Brien too, the first Kinks album on CD in mono, "Big Soul" by the Original Sins, a reggae album by the Ethiopians, and something else but I can't remember what.
Quick bowl of borscht with Nathan from the bookstore since it was cold out -- borscht is the best thing in the world when it's cold out. The Russian girl behind the counter was cute I gotta go back there soon.
Speaking of cute girls, I ran into the world's cutest girl, Serena, she's like Amelie meets Juliette Binoche, ohmygod for real. And she called out to me from a block away, hugged me and said it was her birthday and she was really hoping to run into me, that she was HOPING to. Drawback? She's really sorta nuts and she always talks non-stop so you sorta feel like you just walked into her monolgue, you know? Her kid is 4 1/2 and she just turned 25 today; she plays cello really beautifully -- she toured Europe with Mum, in fact. Hmmmmm, she doesn't sound so bad does she?
Ever feel like you just stepped onto a stage and there's a play already going on and you don't really know what's going on but you can follow along and pretend you do? I think I feel like that a lot of the time.

Quite the mixed message on this chickie. But hey, who's perfect. I just think of what girls must say about me. Pro - He's a smart kid who is passionate beyond belief and will do anything for anyone. Con - He's a smart-ass kid who is passionate beyond belief and will do anything for anyone. Con - He can pplace faces of bit actors in tv commercials and spot them later when they make guest appearances on Gilmore Girls. Pro - He's got a cute ass....haha.
