I'm really appreciating my female friends at the moment.
Surviving Freshers week when newly single wasn't fun. Everyone was joking around that I'd go on a rampage while I just wanted to catch up with old friends. In fact the least likely people seemed to rampaging (must be the only time they feel comfortable doing it) and I did feel at times that I should rampage just so I didn't get left behind. The fact is I'm not ready and I have no desire to rush into anything.
What I have done though is made some new female friends and had some good heart to hearts. I think in any times of crisis you really get to know who your friends are. My flatmate Hayley has been spending a lot of time blowing off steam in my room about what a bastard her boyfriend is, but when I want to talk she's too tied up with her own problems. I can't really blame her though as she just found a load of messages on his phone from his ex and when she checked the outbox of the phone she found he'd been chatting to her and telling his ex how great it was when they were together and how fantastic the sex was. If he wanted to break up with her, this was the wrong way to go about it, however it does seem to be working. Honestly, I've seen less eventful relationships on Dynasty for crying out loud. Anyway, life on the Creek is life on the Creek.
Fortunately, I don't have to deal with this on a day to day basis as I have new female friends in the guises of lil Kate, Hillary and Jen as well as the Sultan of Cool that is Adam from the bar. These guys are really sound, let me moan to my hearts content and don't say crapness like "There's plenty more fish in the see" or "The right person is out there, you just haven't found them yet".
Today is a good day.
NB. No direspect to other friends I have, it's just with uni at the moment I haven't really seen you! Anyway Friday at Ramshackle, it's Colin's birthday so come and make the trek you lazy bastards!
