I love those all night long chats you have with someone who was just somebody you knew but afterwards is a really good friend.
I had that last night with my flatmate Hayley. She moved in about six weeks ago and she was dating my other flatmate Kirk, the obvious thing happened and now she's finding it difficult because all her friends have gone back home for the summer and her only friends still in Bristol are mutual friends with Kirk.
We talked a lot about past relationships, the worst bits and the best and I don't think the atmosphere in the house is going to be as bad as I thought. But with pessimism you are always prepared.
In my first year at uni I had two flatmates who dated for a short time and then broke up. The girl involved never got over it and practically had a breakdown when the guy got back with his ex.
You know it's an unwritten rule to not get involved with your flatmates, but to see the worst case scenario firsthand was quite an experience. Last year I lived in an all male house but I think awkward group dynamic is a better choice than sacrificing all hygene standards. It's ok in the house at the moment, but there is a whole year ahead and as soon as one of them gets into a relationship this house of cards is gonna collapse.
Watch this space.....

i'm interested to see how things work out in my house this year. last year i lived with 3 blokes which was fine. we didn't all particularly get on but we kept oursleves to ourselves most of the time. this year i'm living with 3 girls, one of which i can see myself clashing with. i hope it all works out...
