My 2 year old laptop died. Luckily I paid for that $300 service plan, because the preliminary diagnoses is $800+. It might be cheaper for them to replace my laptop with something new. Unfortunately, when I dropped it off they told me it will take nearly 2 weeks before they get it diagnosed. That said, I am a college student and an internet junkie. I need my laptop like a crackhead needs crack. I had no clue about what to do except buy one and suffer the restocking fee. I went to the CompUSA by Lenox and was about to get the first thing I found. When one of the business sales managers heard my situation he offered to let me buy an open box laptop and return it for a full refund whenever my service situation is resolved. This is one of those rare moments when credit cards are genuinely helpful. I got a nice loaner, too.
