And just like that we were back in Reading! This time playing for Bones’ Wicked Boy Promotions. It was a bill of 6 punk bands and a nice mix of different types of punk. It was like some sort of wild punk rock pick and mix. We arrived a bit late due to some sort of car fire on the M3 so we were sad to miss Tape It Shut, but Dan gave me a CD, which I have listened to in its entirety and I recommend it!
Next up was Rail 27. We played with these chaps before as well and this time they really pulled it out of the bag, and our friends in the audience from Terrics agreed. If you like that 90’s punk like Rancid these chaps are worth a go.
In between them and the very hyper active A Moment Too Late I was chatting to Bones and this and that. It was at this point when I realised that Royal Blood were just a bassist and a drummer. I meant seriously? What the mother fuck? How do they pull that off?! Anyway back on subject…
It was really shaping up to be a good night at this point. Lots of people were there including our mates from Terrics, (congrats to Tom on his big news, he knows what I mean) and family. (big up the Ottos) We were also introduced and met many other characters that night, like Louisiana and her sister Charlie, and Kathryn and her friend Mel. (can anyone confirm they got home alive?) But we were most excited to be introduced to Dead Kansas after Terrics harping on about them. They were good lads and a top band! It was a really solid set and if you like Terrics you’ll like them too!
Then it was our turn to play. It was awesome to see so many people stick around for all the bands. Its all so common for people to watch their mates, or play their set then bugger off. We played a quick set with all the smash hits, except Sparkles, much to the dismay of Craig and Tom from Terrics. (get over it guys, the song is dead)
So we were done and it was now time for the MAAAAIN EVENT. By this time I had lots of cider, and I was in the mood for a sing along and it was that I did. Launch Control definitely stepped up to the headline plate with no problems at all. They smashed it and they had the best crowd of the night. What a bunch of lads. Love them.
