Shibari - For me shibari is not so much about technique it is about a way of being. I feel to truly grasp the essence of shibari you need to understand it in the context of Japanese culture, zen buddhism and its effect on Japanese aesthetics, the samurai class and Japans 700 years of brutal warfare as well as the tea ceremony and the many lessons it teaches. Only then do I feel that you will grasp the essence of shibari. Ultimately shibari is as art, the context this of the art defines how you lay your rope, and how you relate to your Dorei and how the Dorei relates with her Nawashi in the partnership of a shibari play.

I hope to get a copy of a Mai Randa DVD brought into Australia, but that is hush hush - silly politicians - I can watch a man beat a woman black and blue or people killing each other on DVD yet I cannot watch two people consenting to tie each other up.
See this page for info on the DVD it is three DVD's and will cost almost $260 but it has had rave reviews, if any one want to split the cost that would be great.
If you or anyone may know someone who is willing to model and someone who is interested in taking photos then I would keen on meeting up and putting rope to film.
