I'm pretty sure I'm going to take up the guitar. No, I'm sure I am. We'll see how successful I am at it. I don't have any delusions of grandeur. I most likely will never join a band, or anything of that nature, but man, it would be cool just to hook up a small amp and just play at home. Lately, I've fallen completely head over heals for that rockabilly/psychobilly sound. The Chop Tops, Koffin Kats, HorrorPops...even good ol' Johnny Cash. The music, the lyrics...just scream fun. And that's what I want to tap into. I just want to have fun with it. I have a lot of friends in bands, it would be fun to get together and just jam.
Now I'm getting way ahead of myself because I have no clue how to play yet, but just typing that paragraph really got me excited about the idea, the possibilities. I know it's going to take a lot of practice and a lot of work just to get the basics down, however, I'm no musical noobie. I remember growing up, playing the trumpet, practicing for at least 30 minutes to an hour a day and on top of that, private lessons once a week. I know what's involved and what needs to be sacrificed (peace out Xbox).
With technology now, I know there a lot of resources on Youtube and stuff to help get started. I've also got plenty of guitar playing friends that have offered to chip in to help me learn the basics.
I've got my guitar picked out, but I'm afraid that I may be aiming too high. LOL I've got my eye on this beauty:
It's a limited edition, so I think I'm in love with a collectible, not something I'd sit around and bang on while I start this journey. I look at it this way though, it's gorgeous. If the guitar playing didn't work out, I wouldn't mind just having it around to look at.
I may also be crazy. :D
