I think I may have come close to being eaten-- or at least tasted-- by some large, unknown animal a few hours ago. Hiking out in the backwoods in the evening, I heard a HUGE animal tearing through some branches and huffing and puffing. I tried to make out what it was, but could not, and got the hell out of there.

So when I...

Impressions of Portland, from earlier this week: Rainy. Painfully hip. Awesome cafes. Awesome women. Lots of young couples with babies. Lots of trees. Lots of book stores. Lots of crazy homeless people, many of whom seem boisterous (no less than two of them claiming to be "back in town!" in my presence, and with self-aggrandizing nicknames which I can't remember-- something like "Mr. Smooth is...

After a twilight hike: There are few things more awesome than hiking through a purple evening sky, when the trees are turning black and there are little animals rustling around you (frogs, lizards, deer, turkey). You can sense the eternal shifts of light and shadow. And no, I'm not on drugs. Walks> tv, anyways.smile

Flipping great: Camping trip cancelled, so I'm stuck at home for the week, and my TV decides this is the perfect time to break down. Replacement parts don't arrive until next week. No baseball, no movies. It sounds fucking stupid, I know; but I've managed to keep myself out of unhealthy spaces by focusing on the little things that make me happy. This really could've...

I went out for a hike today, took a wrong turn, and ended up walking 17 miles, up and down hills and creekbeds. This was about 5 more miles than I intended. Shockingly, I held up well-- I've been hiking and running a lot lately-- until I got home and rubbed my eyes while I was eating dinner. I must've had pollen on my hands,...

Heh heh... never drive ten hours, go work out at the gym, then take an ambien at 3 in the morning. I will admit, I probably could've fixed my typos, but it would've taken me a looooong time. I was kind of druggily amused at my inability to focus.

On a side note... this keyboard sucks so bad (cheap Gateway laptop) that most of my...

Best and Worst Things I Saw at the Santa Rosa Farmer's Market:

Worst: The spastic lady who kept poking me in the back with her purse while waiting in the line for Thai food, then kept jumping in front of me to see if the food was running out, then actually cut in front of me because she thought they were about to run out...

We got a farmers market here too. Sometimes you can get some good deals.

LOL. I feel you, man. I had some lady cut in front of me the other day. I recited the line before there was lines there was chaos or something from dogma. People don't catch on to "Wow, I'm such a douche!". Oh hey, I'm coming back to rosa on the 2nd with some homies. I talked about getting a beer over at Russian river brewery. Before I got back to socal you should join me, man.

Close Encounters of the Douchebag Kind:

This morning I went to my favorite cafe, and I'm sitting at an outside table, reading the paper, enjoying the atmosphere. It's a nice morning.

Then, a giant SUV pulls in, takes up a residential parking space (despite these being clearly labelled as such; but they don't have meters, you see). Two guys get out, one goes in to...

I lived in SoCal for a year... yeah, I know what you mean about the meth-families. Craziness, there. I would say crackheads are about the same... except, they're far, far dirtier. lol

I'm glad you took the time to read all that rambling!
