US(preferabbly originating from Charlotte, Asheville, or Greensboro, NC) to Iceland for a few days, and from there to Europe (not too particular which airport...)

Offer still stands. It's just a spare room, but furnished and warm and all.
I would recommend going to a travel agent for bookings and looking for youth hostiles to stay in. There are so many options. They even show you where they are how much, etc. Amsterdam has 2 of them and almost every main city has them I believe.
Don't pay a travel agent to look for a flight for you.
If you have the time, do some research and I'll help how I can with some minfo.
Flying,...once you get to Europe, you'll find all kinds of really cheap flights and all. They are big on vacation packages here. Plus you are wanting to travel in peak tourist season, not a good idea. Everything is more expensive. Check the value of the dollar way before you go so you can plan use of your funds. Things are crazy expensive anywhere here. If you get a car to rent...gas in Holland is around $6.16 a gallon right now. That's normal. You should buy a used bicycle when you get here secondhand. You can find them anywhwere posted in grocery stores, train stations, etc...they are usually stolen though. The Dutch word for bicycle is fiets. Like feets.
Try BMIBABY.com or go to Schipol airport's website and look at all of the airlines gong thru there or wherever you are going. The you can find super cheap deals all over this place.
I know British Air has a cool deal for travel right now, I'm not sure of the details.
Anyway, I've gotta go to work.
Good luck!
