Tis the season
Awake aout 9am I hear the flow of water. I try to go back to sleep thiking it would just be my flatmates girlfriend in the shower before work then I realise she didnt stay the night last night and it's X-mas day. Just as I get to my bedroom door I can really hear it .
I opened my kitchen door to find water freely flowing from all the light fixtures so about 8 places and where the back wall meets the roof Quick as a flash because no joke this shit is pouring at least several litres a minute(If you see me ask to see the video on my phone) I close the kitchen door , run to a big massive bag of towels I have and stuff them till they cover the crack at the bottom of the door. Ring my flatmate , he owns the gaff after all to inform him of the situation.
I then have to run into the ktichen getting soaked 3 times in order to get pots , buckets pans etc to catch the water. Note that it was -3 on X-mas morning here. I then run upstairs to see whats going on. As I reached upstairs door I see there is a parcel force package outside. Meaning they were not in yesterday so why should they be in today? Well they werent. Turns out they are in Goa. I run back to my flat to change clothes. Ring upstairs landlady who informs me if I am sure it's her flat its ok to kick the door in. I am so I do which I have to say is suprisingly easy.
I constantly keep having to bail out the water. It fills up so fast that my sink cant cope so I have to go out and throw onto the street. If you have ever wondered how cold , how fast things can get I would recomend bailing water in the freezing cold while soaked.
In the end I think I changed clothes 4/5 times .It took us almost 20 phonecalls before we found a plumber and I had to go to hospital because of suspected hypothermia and my obvious soaking. Turns out I was ok but it took 5 hours to get any feeling back in my feet.
I spent X-mas in a flat with no heat or electricty lying wrapped up reading by candle light and a tad freezing. Apart from the overwhelming shock of opening that door and seeing the water I have to say in an incredibley odd way it was great and you really find out who your mates are when in such a situation.
I havent updated SG for a while but figured this story meritted a blog. But so much has happened since my last proper blog I cant be arsed filling in the blanks
