I have also had an opposite kind of experience; watching an old movie and realising how horrible it is. Flash Gordon, for example. I watched it a few months ago, and it must've been years and years since I've seen it before that. I have never seen anything so cheesy. True, it was fun, classic kind of horrible, but still pretty horrendous.
Good luck with the new ink! Don't worry, you know that the nervous feeling will go away as soon as the needle touches your skin.
