The son of a bitch never showed up. I honestly didn't know whether to laugh or cry. On the one hand I was happy that he didn't show up because I hate getting visits from the higher-ups. I know its all in the name of improvement but a lot of the time I'm convinced they look for things to whinge about, even if it means making up stuff off the top of their head.
On the other hand though, I worked an ungodly amount of unpaid overtime to get the place looking a bit less shit for him. Now it seems as though it was all for nothing. I'd like to think that I've given the place a decent foundation and it wont need that kind of horrible week to get sorted again - but with the staff I've got i wouldnt be surprised if it's on fire by the weekend.
Area manager is coming down tomorrow for one of his little mini visits. Could be worse, although I hate the fact that his handshake could break diamonds. Maybe its some kind of training thing - on the day he shakes my hand and I don't flinch - then I'm ready to run a store by myself. Incidently, running a store by myself, like i have been for the past week is a giant pain in the arse. I'm sure it'll be better when I have to do it in the future, but after 5 months there's obviously still some stuff that I don't know how to do properly. Naturally some of this stuff cropped up during this week, so the area manager probably thinks I'm some kind of stupid clown.
I bought Pokemon Pearl the other day as a reward for enduring such a shitty work week. I'm bloody hooked on it now, scared shitless that if I don't follow the rules and "Catch em all" that some jack-booted marine is going to kick down my door and give me a beating.
Just one more shift before I'm on holiday. I plan on hibernating until Saturday when its off to London to drink with some pervs. The combination of good company, and the fact I wont be in work make me almost giddy when I look forward to the weekend, although I'm worried about what that says about me
