So I had my interview for Gamestation Assistant Manager yesterday. I'm not actually sure how it went. Well, it went well in terms of how well I got on with the interviewer. At times we wound up straying miles from the topic at hand about topics such as whether Smokin Aces is actually a good movie. The only thing I'm unsure about is whether he was actually impressed with my as a candidate rather than just a geek he could chat to.
He did however seem impressed with my knowledge of games just from how we were talking about Gears of War, and how his kids have been playing Viva Pinata but he'd not tried it yet. He also seemed impressed that I'm pretty mobile with the whole car thing now, and they were looking for a manager who can easily get to 3 other locations nearby where they're thinking of opening stores.
He also made a point of mentioning that my lack of management experience isnt such a factor. Apparently their store manager is very experienced so they'd be more than happy with somebody like me who doesnt have much experience but knows their management theory etc.
I need this goddam job.
It's not far off double the money I'm earning now in my shitty supermarket job. There's no uniform either, I can just crawl into work in jeans and trainers and wear promotional video game t-shirts they give me. You get 30% discount off pre-owned games and 25% off new games. You can borrow games for free and at the area manager's discretion you can borrow consoles for free. It's all about improving product knowledge apparently. Also, when a game comes into stock the week before its release, head office send some vouchers down to the store so you can just get some pizzas delivered, hang around after work and play the new games so you can tell customers about them. Free games AND free pizza? Fucking awesome!
My main fear is that I'm getting a little too excited about it, and if it turns out I've not got the job i'll probably wind up in a terrible funk about my current job and wind up kicking a customer or something
In other news : I miss this band a whole lot
