So I realize ninety percent of the time I am writing on here it's either bitching about work or talking about how much I like work. Well that shit is boring, and is probably why very few people read this (that of course coupled with the fact that I rarely ever comment on other peoples blogs, something I am making an effort to do). Anyways I probably will continue to mostly talk about the boring aspects of my life here most of the time. Writing is a good outlet for me but it seems I won't do it unless I post it somewhere. Anyways, I do however once again want to make an effort to better get to know people on here and actually make some friends. So if I want to get to know you the first step would to be to let you get to know me. So here, once again are some random facts about me.
I am currently enthralled by a book I just started reading, The Secret Life of Houdini: The Making of America's First Superhero. It's awesome and I've always had this fascination with Houdini despite knowing very little about him. Reading is, and always has been, my number one source of entertainment. I tend to read a lot of fiction, some true crime, and some biographies/memoirs (usually of people in recent history, say 1850-1970). I read an average of two books a week. My two most serious past girlfriends, Jen and Valerie both used to do this similar thing were I would take them one one free or cheap date (I was dating Jen in High School, and Valerie in college) and then they would take me on a free or cheap date. My date for them would be something like a picnic, an afternoon of sexual favors and massages, ice cream at the beach, etc. There's without fail would be this; they would take me to the bookstore, we would both go around and make a big pile of books, and would then sit in the stores for hours holding hands and reading our books.
Music is very important to me. I have it playing almost constantly, it helps me immensely with my anxiety. I listen to a random assortment of various music. In no particular order some of the bands/artists I listen to the most are Say Anything, Regina Spektor, Murs, Atmosphere, Melody Gardot, Tom Waits, John Coltrane, Bad Brains, Muddy Waters, Aesop Rock, Brand New, Wu-Tang, Johnny Cash, Duke Ellington, Iron & Wine, Jay-Z, The Beatles, The Misfits, Jimi Hendrix, Cold War Kids, Alkaline Trio....
I am the oldest of four. I have a brother who is 21, a sister who is 16, and a sister who is 12. We have what I would think is a very stereotypical relationship, when we're not ready to kill each other we get along great.
I have twice nearly been killed by Christmas trees. Once when I was a baby and once a few years ago.
I also nearly drown once. This story I will share as it's hilarious. Growing up we always had an above ground pool. We had a deck on one side of the pool. My brother and I would float tubes across the pool and see who could jump the farthest and land in one. Well my brother was always super skinny and I was always very fat. So we floated the tubes all the way across the pool and my brother made his jump so I had to make mine. Well I did, except I did it with such force that my fat ass got stuck in the tube and it FLIPPED OVER. So there I was floating upside down with my fat ass sticking in the air while I drowned. My mom had to jump in fully clothed, flip my over, drag me out of the pool, and pop my ass out of the tube.
My first car was a purple two-door Suzuki Sidekick. I loved it.
My all time favorite movie is The Bride of Frankenstein.
