Changes in my world are upcoming apaprently, but first a wondering of things in the realm of SG...
I have seen the various blogs wondering about the direction of the site, and the overall disappointment in choices for front page pinkdom. I feel it is something I want to address as well. I have my favorite women on the site, as do we all, but I have favorites who I admire, and I have favorites that I interact with on the site itself through comments, messages, and what have you. My heart goes out to some of the hopefuls that put out quality sets, show overall determination and desire to become a SG because of what it means to them, and generally love what they are doing.
Periodically new SGs are given the title without seemingly making any kind of presence felt on the site itself. It seems that they show up, put a bit of a profile together, write one blog asking for votes, and then one other thanking, and then nothing. They don't put themselves out there like some of the hopefuls do, and I can understand that opening up isn't for everyone, but showing some semblance of your personality is a good thing. There are hopefuls that have been trying for years to become SGs, paying money to have great sets shot for them, sets that show their heart and desire, sets that languish in MR.
I feel for these women when a new girl becomes a member one day, has a set in MR the next, and is pink a week later. This has to be a slap in their face, but they keep plugging away at it, they put that brave face forward, and they rock the shit out of it. Where is the love for these quality hopefuls, where is the support for these amazing women (outside of comments), where is the pink hue yet to be bestowed upon them? These are the questions that members, established SGs, and staff should be asking themselves.
Personally I try to continuously comment on their fantastic sets, I throw full support behind them and always try to help raise any mood that they might be feeling. I can only hope that I help a little, that I make a little bit of an impact, and I hope that I can help bring more attention to women like Mitska, Joliette, and ZombieKittyBot. These are the women that keep getting passed over, and these are the women tht would be good for the site, beacons of light in the hazy cloud that the SG site is mucking about in.
Okay that's my piece on that and now to my personal piece.
I guess I am going to have a job shift at work. Dad came home from work and told me that next week I would start working in the "warehouse" side of things. When I was on light duty recooperating from my broken leg I did this job, doing ordering on the computer, lining things up like that, making sure parts and whatnot were available as needed. They have amped this side of things up and I guess they want me to make a presence on the afternoon shift. I will have the same days off, and same hours, just now I won't have to go outside, to bad they didn't do this on the really cold days.
The funny part of it is that the Machinist craft is going to be mad because they keep convincing themselves tha it is their job to do simply because they have been doing it, but they have been told before that it is actually a clerk job so the management can put anyone they want into it as we don't have clerks in the roundhouse. So there will be some grumblings that I will secretly find really amusing, but on the surface I will just make sure to keep doing the job, and doing it well.
