The update on Grandma is a good one, her surgery took about an hour, the doc took a couple other lymph nodes because they were swollen but tests were negative so nothing bad there. Her central something or other was clear as well, this part wasn't explained very well to me, but it sounds good as well.
She's on her way to recovery, so thank you for thoughts, prayers and good vibes sent her way, us Sadorf's appreciate it.
Well alright, I told myself that I would post a new blog when I hit 100 comments, and looky there, 100.
Let's see what to say, what to say...
Mom is continuing to do well with her new knee and recovery from that. She had to go have part of the incision cleaned up and stiched back up as it was possibly infected and you don't want that to spread because if it gets in the new knee they have to take it out and start over basically. She had a bit of a melt down yesterday but it seems to be a side effect of her medication and she's doing fine and all now.
Ben is still doing well, getting to be more and more active and so we continue to sedate him as needed so that he doesn't hurt himself or have a setback with recovery from his hip surgery.
My Grandma is going in for a masectomy on Tuesday, she has an encapsulated stage one tumor in her breast, but it's a good prognosis and the doctor's are saying it should work out just fine. Grandma is optimistic, and when it came down to the choice of a lumpectomy or a masectomy she chose as she did because "she doesn't have any men hanging around". Gotta like that. Dad is a bit weirded out I think, but that is to be expected when you are faced with the mortality of your mother. She is in her 80s but is pretty damn healthy and doesn't seem that old to me anyways.
Me, I'm doing well, have a bit of a cold, but doing well. I just read a really good book called One Day, enjoyed that alot, don't know if I like one of the decisions he made for a character, but I guess it makes more sense than if it was some sort of fairy tale, so I am coming to terms with all of that too.
Looking forward to getting out of town on the 17th and 18th of September for a friends reception and dance, should be a damn good party, and I will get to see friends I haven't seen in over a year which will be really nice.
October I will fly out to California for my "sister's" wedding. Aimee has been an important part of my life for the last ten years, and we might not see each other that often or talk all the time, but she truly is a sister to me and I look forward to going and supporting her on the 10th of October, plus it will be nice to go back to Cali and see what's going on.
All in all life is going pretty well, I am putting myself through an experiment of not buying any cds, movies, or books until after October, something I wanted to see if I could actually do since I am always buying things here and there as I see "need" or what-have-you. So far so good. It's not like I don't have piles of things I haven't read, or watched, or played, so it's something I am teaching myself. Also I want to get into the habit of not buying things all willie nillie as I want to be moved within the next year and from that I will have new bills to add to the old and have to make sure that it won't be shell shock that I am budgiting my money differently.
All in all I can't complain, but any and all thoughts for Grandma on Tuesday are welcome.
