I finished The Apprentice: My Life in the Kitchen by Jacques Pepin. WOW! that was one of the most entertaining books I've read in a very long time! it's so amazing everything he's done and everything he's been through, he watched the culinary revolution as it happened, he was a part of it! When he started he cooked on stoves that burned firewood, now they have induction stoves! Amazing!!!
We went out to Oceanaire tonight for Restaurant Week. If you don't know what Restaurant Week is, it's one week in the end of August when allot of restaurants in the area get together and have a special deal. $30 for a full meal, appetizers, main courses, desserts and everything! All the proceeds go to charity too, it's a good thing!
Well we went to Oceanaire, and I really like it!
I had Fresh Sunberry Oysters from Prince Edwards Island with a mignonette sauce, they were fabulous! And I had Clam Chowder, and Grilled Blue Marlin with a hot and sour pineapple glaze, and lots of desserts! (we shared!) Apple Fritters, Fruit Sorbet (Mostly Mango) Peach Crisp, and Cheesecake with a blueberry sauce! the cheesecake was best! Oh, and of course lots of wine!
I want to go there and sip martini's and eat oysters! anyone wanna go?
No major chefly creations lately, just the usual dinners and stuff like that.
