I've been thinking about a line I wrote earlier...
"Every life has a soundtrack"
Pretty innocent little line I'd say. But lately I've been realizing the truth of that line.
I think you can tell alot about a person by the music they listen to, and their favorite songs. I think all of us connect with music, to some degree. And I think this connectedness is what makes it a "favorite." The Current pop music is a testament to this I believe, so much of it is formulaically popular. That is, it is written in a way that has been proven to make a song popular. Yet so much of this music is forgotten within months of it being released, yet older music like Pink Floyd for me, finds constant playback. The music is not necessarily the typical format of "popular music" yet it speaks something which I connect with I think almost at a subconscious level. It's been interesting to watch my musical tastes change over the years, and look at the type of music that I liked at the time.
Pink Floyd's "A Momentary Lapse of Reason" has been on heavy rotation in my CD player as of late. Especially "Learning to Fly", and "On the Turning Away." I think it mirrors the changes I've been going through in my life as of recent. Dumping out alot of my old ill conceived notions. Trying to raise myself up and make myself a better person.
Of course one band has been one of my favorites.... "My life with the thrill kill kult", haven't figured out what that says about me yet though.
What's your favorite music right now? Why do you think so? Do you even care?
For those that don't care...
here's my tongue:
do with it what you will.
