Happy Winter Solstice Celebration!
I am always wondering what other people are thankful bececause it seems that we as a nation of people aren't thankful enough. I'll give an example at my work where my two bosses were given a Christmas card with a Holiday gift cerfticate or gift card to a restaurant that was chosen by the person heading the Christmas card. Now last year, a lot of my co-workers contributed but they did it for the wrong reasons. Some contributed because they wanted a raise or a bonus and hoped that contributing would give them those things. Wrong reasons to contribute to your boss in my opinion or should I say very vain and very greedy especially during this time of year.
Now my bosses are doing very well now as well as last year but had to make changes to do so. Why this time, there were no job performance reviews because there were no raises available. Why if there was a choice what would you take, a job or a raise? Would you have a raise if it risked your job and put you to the top of the list of being laid off? All in all, my co-workers didn't contribute much because they thought of it as an "inconvenience". Now for me, I see it on a positive note for what I am thankful for. In the United States, over ten percent of the population is unemployed or should I say ten percent of the "working population". That means that one out of then people are jobless and doing what they can to survive. In my family alone, my oldest cousin is the victim. Now I truly don't see us going into depression but a leveling. All our bad choices we made in the past such as giving high house loans with low but unfixed rates to people without credit checks and doing the big payment deals on anything to people who have bad payment history is biting people in the ass.
Now I didn't contribute because of what happened last year for my bosses felt they were put on the spot and they actually felt bad because they couldn't give back to their employees that year. However, they gave back more than they'll ever know and one day I hope to tell them. I'll put it in terms of me. I have a job, no a career that I love to do, that I went to college for. Before them, nobody would hire me because I had no experience. The company I work for now gave me a chance and I am thankful for that. I have fucked up at work in the view of potential customers but instead of firing me like most companies do, they actually talked to me about it and told take care of myself on that matter. That shows that they actually care because despite what is said, there are other people who can do my job and some who do it far better but they want me to work for them. I am thankful for that. I am thankful for even having a job that pays more than I ever thought I would ever get paid and has full benefits STILL in this economy we are in.
That story brings me to the belief that there is a major difference between saying you're thankful and actually being thankful. And to that extent there is a difference between truly asking for forgiveness to just asking for forgiveness. All these views that are so good - so misunderstood now. Maybe I just wanted to write this to just reverify the things in this Universe that are Universally good but still misunderstood - especially during this season.
Once again, I hope all of you stay safe this Holiday. Don't become a statistic and I hope to see you all next year or maybe next week since most likely, I'm blogging again after Christmas.
