It's amazing how few of these kidnappings and even fewer of the deaths make it to our news outlets. It frustrates and angers me. I'm convinced it's the Bush Administrations policy to keep these things as hushed as possible to protect his precious image and the image of his quest for the holy grail (by this I'm referring to the war, of course). How many people have to die brutally?
An excerpt from this article that I wrote earlier...
Jill, raised an Irish-Catholic in the Detroit area, was a freelance journalist on assignment in Iraq for the Christian Science Monitor. On Saturday she was supposed to interview a prominent Sunni politician, Adnan al-Dulaimi, at his offices in the dangerous al-Adel neighborhood of Baghdad. When he didn't show-up for the interview after waiting for 25 minutes, Jill, her translator, and their driver decided they had to leave. They were ambushed shortly after getting into their car. The driver escaped, her translator was killed, and she is still missing. Sounds like she was set-up to me, but maybe I'm a little biased.
Pray for her safe return...
she's in my thoughts.
