Okay, so Saturday was a great night to be Eagle. OU kicked the snot out of Texas Tech so now there is now a three way tie in the Big 12 south. Texas and Texas A&M are set to play Thursday night. OU & OSU will play Saturday night. So Across the Big 12 south the Aggies are hoping to play spoilers. We got some shopping done that afternoon. Went to the library. Just kinda cooled out. Early evening I went and picked up our tickets from 'will call' for the NIN show at the BOK. Then we went to Spaghetti Warehouse and parked a few blocks away and walked over to the BOK. The opening act was Boris. Boris is a prog rock group from Japan. I enjoyed it but will not be buying any of their albums. The first hints of the main show starting was the house lights dimmed just a bit twice and then as 999,999 started the house lights went down. The show was hands down the best I have ever seen. I thought I might tear up a bit more than once I was so happy. I just blissed out the whole time. Not even the heckler yelling at Trent 'don't be a fag' could shake me grinning from ear to ear. The visual aspects of the show were just jaw dropping. I was really impressed with how deep into the catalog they went. There only three songs I was looking out for that was not played. considering how long I have been looking for this show. How many years I have checked the dates and locations trying to figure out a way to get there. How I would afford to eat the weeks before and after...3 is not bad at all. I was stoked that they played songs off the Ghost releases. I was really kind of worried that material would be ignored. Not only did they perform songs but the visuals from that part of the show were my favorites. This just kicked my ass. I will not be waiting another 14 years before my next NIN show. Next dream show? Bjork.
Town & Country
1. Are you a city mouse or a country mouse? Why?
Country living in the city. I am not patient enough for country life right now. 15 minutes to the nearest gas station and/or grocery store seems like more of a hassle than it is worth. I am less than 5 minutes from all I need and less than 15 from all I want.
2. If finances weren't an issue, would you change how urban your residential environment is? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would like sound proofing. Not that I hear much from my neighbors, I worry that we make too much of a ruckus.
3. If you travel, do you usually travel to places similar to where you live on the urban-rural axis, or different? Why? If you don't travel and had the opportunity, what kind of place would you go to and why?
Really depends on what event we are going to. The War Eagle Craft Fair was a more rustic setting. Then there is Las Vegas.
4. How large an area do you consider your neighborhood? Do you explore it? If so, how often, and what do you look for/pay attention to?
Well, first there is the gated portion itself. We walk around inside the gate quite a bit. Then larger than that there is the neighborhood that borders the park where we have walked around the streets and admired various yards and houses.
5. What is one thing you would wish to change in the cities in your country? What about rural areas? Suburbs?
I think downtown and the river are the two things the city really have going for it. Brookside is not hurting and urban sprawl is just so depressing. I lived in the sticks for the first 25 years of my life and since moving into bigger and bigger and still even bigger cities I really still laugh when I realize how close I am to home. I love being so close to everything. Makes me see why some people never leave the 5 boroughs of NYC.
Feelings...
1. What made you happy this week?
Nine Inch Nails Lights in the Sky Tour!
2. What made you sad?
Negative people making themselves miserable.
3. What made you angry?
Not really angry as much as irked that someone choose to unload their anger and hostility on me.
4. What are you looking forward to in the next week?
Seeing my family together. Maybe even catching some football.
5. What are you not looking forward to?
Two more days of work.
