Noshes
1. What do/don't you eat?
Sad as it may be, I still eat like a kid. I stay away from caffeine and currently I am working on portion size.
2. Why do you make the food choices you do?
I spent the first 31 years not giving a darn about the after effects of my diet. I need to make changes if I want to make it to see Haley's Comet again.
3. Are you happy with your relationship to food?
No. I have an addictive personality and food has been my drug of choice. I have only realized in the last few years that I cannot fill emotional holes through the stomach. No amount of burgers, pizza, or cake will change that.
4. What are your favorite comfort foods?
Bacon Cheeseburger well done without tomato.
5. Are there any foods you want to try but haven't had a chance, yet?
Caviar
Good Old Days
1. What were some of the smells and tastes of your childhood?
Grandma Shorty would wake up the house with one of two things: banging the biscuit can on the kitchen counter until it popped or the smell of bacon. Her son (my father) used gasoline to start the woodburning grill. You knew it was 5 to 10 minutes to eat when you heard the 'whoosh' of the air displace from him throwing a lit match and running. Sadly, you could taste a difference from the first burgers to go on the grill and the last. Kraft Mac & Cheese and a good bar b cue sauce always take me back to childhood.
2. What did you have as a child that you do not think children today have?
A dual deck cassette player. Welcome to the digital age.
3. What elementary grade was your favorite?
4th grade. I hated 2nd, 3rd, and 5th. 1st was not too bad.
4. What summer do you remember the best as a child?
I think it was the summer between my sophomore and junior years my sister and I would get up around 5am most days (never Sunday) and go to the gym in Claremore to work out. Then, after the trip home and a shower we would go to work. Sometimes the work was at home and sometimes it was in Collinsville.
5. What one piece of advice would you give to your younger self? And at what age? Don't mess with that Juby girl. Leave her alone and get over it. Age 9 r 10.
