The answers below are not set in stone but a reflection of what I perceive as reality at this moment and my time in the world. Void if you disagree.
Fact or Fiction?
1. Love at First Sight: Fact or Fiction?
I don't believe in love at first sight. Lust most definitely. Infatuation for sure, but love takes time, trust, and communication.
2. Fortune Telling: Fact or Fiction?
I myself have dj vu and premonitions so I believe others could be more open to that view and side of reality.
3. Other Life: Fact or Fiction?
To look up at the night sky in all of the vastness and think that we are the only ones existing is just about the most arrogant outlook there can be.
4. Afterlife: Fact or Fiction?
I have no experience here. I hope there is something more. I find it interesting that some people NEED there to be something more. Maybe people would act better if they didn't think there was any chance of do over. Eternal reward doesn't seem to make for friendly populace.
5. Bigfoot: Fact or Fiction?
You never know. I don't have strong feelings one way or another on Sasquatch. I won't rule it out but I am not going to look for them either.
Getting there
1. How old were you when you started walking or biking to some places (e.g. school or a friend's place) on your own? What were the circumstances?
I snuck out of the house one summer when I was about 13. I rode my bike around the back roads, got lost, and ended up about 7 miles from home at 3am. I went to my sister's to catch a ride home and she narced me out a few months later.
2. How old were you when you started taking public transit on your own? What were the circumstances?
I have yet to take public transit. Charmed life I lead.
3. How old were you when you first took a long-distance trip (unaccompanied on the bus, train, or plane, even if you were met at your destination) on your own? What were the circumstances?
I went from Ponca City to Wichita by Greyhound when I was about 17 to visit my sister. My folks didn't have time to take me all the way.
4. This set of questions was inspired by a news story about a woman leaving her nine-year-old in downtown Manhattan to find his own way home on transit and the controversy it caused (http://news.aol.com/newsbloggers/2008/04/07/is-9-too-young-to-ride-the-nyc-subway-alone/ ). What's your reaction to this story?
Not my kid. The child requested and the parent agreed and trusted the child enough to take on the task. To Hell with what anyone else thinks.
5. At what age would or did you let your kids (hypothetical kids, if you don't have them) do those things where you live now?
Well, Tulsa has a bus system but that is all as far as public transit goes. I think it is a matter of the child's maturity. I would be weary of letting my 22 year old niece out with a metro pass but would trust my 7 year old niece. Also, because of the double standard boys would be different. Get offended if you want, truth can't hurt me.
Change
1. If you had the ability to legally change your name, would you? To what?
No, I am fairly used to my name. If I was forced I would go with Bentam Eagle Nave.
2. What do you with change that you receive from banks/purchases/find on the ground?
I separate the pennies and keep them in their own jar and put all other in a smaller and more accessible jar.
3. If you could travel back in time to change the course of one historical event, what event would it be?
I would take a majority of the funds used for the Star Wars Defense System from the Regan era and put it to non fossil fuel research. Maybe then we wouldn't have $4 a gallon, war in oil rich countries, and I would be plugging in my car at night.
4. Would you rather live a safe, stable, moderately interesting life or one where every day was dangerous, volatile, and different?
Dangerous, volatile, and different sounds exhausting right now. I will take moderately interesting over stitches and x-rays nearly any day.
5. What do you think you'll be remembered for when you die and, if you could, would you change it to something else?
I hope to leave the world a better place than I entered. How do I accomplish that? I haven't the foggiest idea today but it is on my to-do list. Right now I think the world would be better served by an Eagle with less body mass. That is my current focus.
Power
1) If you became ruler of the world, what three things would you do first?
First, all international disputes will be decided via sports. No more war. Leave it on the field. If Iraq beats us in soccer we go home. Heck, if the Minnesota Minutemen can put together a team to beat the Navy baseball team let them leave the union. Second, oil, natural gas, and coal are not replenishable and thus no longer valid answers to energy issues. We are far past the need of alternatives. Third, get ready for a whole new tax system and government based assistance. Hunger and Homeless should be terms found in history books.
2) If you were a superhero, what would be your name and what powers would you have?
I would be The Guardian: Strength, invulnerable, and power of Superman, discipline & training of Batman, mental capacity and function of Brainiac 5, morphing ability of Grudge.
3) You can ask one question to someone who knows EVERYTHING. What is it?
What are the scores of the NFL games for the next ten years? Then I would just stay in Las Vegas for the season and place bets based on that information. Retire after the ten years, vacation in the off season. Probably get hooked on college ball since the outcome isn't known to me.
4) If you were invisible for a day, what would you do?
Go to the multiplex and watch movies all day long.
5) If you saw a mythical/religious deity walking down the street, what would you do?
