Totally bushed.
I managed to sleep about 8-9 hours last night. I actually did not wake up until 10 this morning, when a phone call woke me up.
I have no idea why, but I have been really exhausted the past couple days. Maybe it is the onset of a cold or something.
Or I might be getting worn out from my twice daily duties involving my poor, sick kitty. She is really ill. I have to give her medicines twice a day. Two in the morning, three at night.
Every other day, I give her a subcutaneous fluids IV. Her kidneys are a little too weak to quite do their job right now. So the IV keeps her from getting dehydrated.
Well, I guess so long as I am sleeping so well I will probably go to bed nice and early tonight.
Say, if you have a pet you really love - bookmark the VCA Animal Hospitals home page so you can find a quality emergency care facility if they ever get really sick or hurt in an accident.
For some of them, you might have to get referred by a vet - so keep your vet's emergency contact phone number handy too, just in case.
No question, they saved my cat's life.
I called my vet a few weeks ago because my cat had lost a lot of weight, gradually stopped eating and then stopped drinking.
He had a busy schedule but he finally was able to see her. I even got her priority bumped up a bit.
Five minutes into her exam, he said she was seriously ill and in shock. He mentioned the local VCA Animal Hospital and said they were very good. Then he drew me a map.
My cat got admitted as an emergency patient to the ICU. She spent one day in the ICU and four more days in the ICU. They literally fought back death in her case. I am sure she would not have lived to Thanksgiving without their special care and medicine.
My hope and belief is that she will life a couple more years. I hate Death, and any time I can kick it in the face, I am going to do it.
I lost a couple family members in the past decade. I was not about to lose my cat before her time.
Anyway, that is at least part of the reason I am so tired. I do not mind being tired for a good cause.
