Today's Blog is a rant so be wary:
Alright, I am so tired of Christians, and I am speaking of the majority for I know there are exceptions, assuming that their religion is the only true account of the world. In my Western Lit class we are supposed to be reviewing Genesis as a story, which means it should be analyzed in its elements as a story and not with any connection to anyone's religious beliefs and without the assumption that that is the way that it actually happened. But the Christians in the room cannot seem to set aside their beliefs and analyze it from a purely literary perspective. They are contantly dragging their religion and belief system into it and it's driving me crazy.
I don't automatically reject all these stories because my religion does not subscribe to a deific figure. No. I take them as stories, as works of literature as the class has asked us to do.
On a side note, I am also upset that a class on Western Literature does not acknowledge any of the stories or myth works of the Native American people.
In short, I'm having a slightly angry worked up kind of day and I apologize for assailing your eyes. Maybe poetry class will calm me down.
/end rant
