good and bad. no. very bad.

good is that i had a great time in canada. i got in really well with all of my gf's family (although not so well with her best friend but that's another story). it's a beautiful place, and we got to do cool tourist-y things like go to niagara falls and stuff like that.

the bad is that when we got back on friday morning my gf had a miscarriage. we'd known she was pregnant for about 6 or 7 weeks, and we were keeping it a secret (as you do), and we even managed to get through the whole trip without anyone suspecting a thing. she seems ok about it right now, whereas i'm a little less ok. the doctors couldn't tell us anything when we went to the hospital on friday, and so we have to go in for the routine scan that we had pre-booked for seeing our baby for the first time, which is tomorrow. even though we know that now there is no baby to see. i've read lots of things about it on various websites and in books, about how 3 in every 10 pregnancies end in miscarriage and whatever, but it's still pretty difficult to digest right now.
