I don't know Kimagure Orange Road, I just looked it up though and it seems a fun way to spend a few days with.
Some of the series I have enjoyed the most are Toradora, Nana, Mai Hime, Serial Experiments Lain, Loveless, Fruits Basket, Aishiteruze Baby, Skip Beat, K-On, Azumanga Daioh, Chobits, XXXholic, Persona... That's all that comes to mind right now. As you can see I'm a big shoujo anime fan. I do like other stuff though.
I don't know 3x3 eyes either, so that's exciting. it's been yearsss since i saw any FLCL.

Giving up alcohol is a massive step! although I can go weeks at a time without drinking (well, I have done in the past, i probably couldn't now! haha!), I think actually saying "I'm not touching a drop" would just make me crave a drink!
