Apparently, it's Journal Poetry Day - I had no idea. So, here's one of mine:
Reality
Scream and the world laughs at you
Laugh and they'll leave you alone
life takes a measure of
all of your treasures
and revels in all of your woes
Yell and your neighbors gibber
rage and they call you stoned
the spinning Earth has lost
all mirth but may yet survive
if left alone
Eat and your body's polluted
starve and your ribs will show
our minds are suited
to sorrow and ruin and sanity
is the first thing to go
Die and you'll be buried
live and you'll be ignored
people's attentions are full of
conventions that changed as soon
as they're bored.
That was from my bleak phase, I'm happier now. Probably more unhinged, too.
